August 2023 saw the 2nd annual photo retreat for breast-cancer survivors—Beyond Beautiful—now as an entire weekend at the historic luxury resort Hacienda del Sol, now also under full sponsorship of Tucson Plastic Surgery Foundation.

Five survivor/warriors joined 10 volunteers for the July photo retreat, most survivors selected from Tucson Plastic Surgery patients and one from the Tucson nonprofit breast-cancer support group Tucson Cancer Conquerors. They were treated to hair, makeup, nails, wardrobe and boudoir photo shoots.

As the volunteers set about pampering our Queens for a Day the intention was for the survivors to share their stories and journeys with each other to bond in a sisterhood only those who have walked in their moccasins could know. Mission Accomplished!

La Hacienda started in the 1920s as a Western school for well-heeled daughters from Back East, each assigned her own horse when the resort was surrounded by nothing but Sonoran Desert, now full of well-heeled homes in Tucson's beautiful Catalina Foothills.
